They take a thoughtful, long-term approach to issues. In what way are they supposed to respond quickly to a tragedy such as the one in Newtown? The local Fairfield County Foundation has already worked with several entities to set up a variety of funds in response to local requests. Where do national foundations fit in here unless their cause (gun control, mental health, crisis counseling, etc) is already specific to this type of tragedy?
