Thanks for this article Beth! It's a little disheartening to see those "negative feedback" lines, especially since there's no explanation! So far it's a very tiny percentage so I don't take it personally, but at some point I'll have to attempt the "spreadsheet aerobics" to look further into it.

Hi Beth, thanks for the article. I am learning some interesting things. A client I do social media work for had a Facebook post last week that totally took off...as in 70,000+ reached, 200+ comments, 100+ shares. This is a first. However, the same post had 70+ in negative feedback. After researching the concept I am guessing it was from people whose friends saw the promoted post since it was shared so much, and THOSE people hid the post b/c they weren't interested (the client has an adoption ministry). I am not going to take it personally; if they aren't interested now that probably won't change. On the other end we got lots of new likes, so we also reached the people who ARE interested.

Thanks for this article Beth,

It is very timely for me as I have been trying to find the balance between posting too much vs not enough. The line between getting our message out and potentially annoying our fans is a very fine one.

I will be trying out Edgerank Checker to remove some of the guesswork.
